HS2 Delays
As well as the delay to the start of Civils works on Phase 1, it is now widely reported that the DFT will announce to parliament the planned submission of Phase 2b of the Bill will also be delayed for 12 months from 2019 to 2020.
Phase 2b of the scheme is the link from Crewe to Manchester and Leeds and a pause is beginning to take account of the work Northern Powerhouse Rail is considering to link Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle and Sheffield.
With work on Phase 1 and Phase 2a getting underway, people are likely to start feeling the more direct effects of construction over the coming years. Environmental and other critical survey work to support Phase 2B will also continue in order to support the final draft Bill that will be submitted to parliament.
